Impress on Purpose!
Take a few moments to read Deuteromomy 6:1-9. This is one of my favorite passages of scripture. I used to have it painted above the doorframe at our home in Ashland, Kentucky. I always wanted to remember the importance of impressing Jesus Christ to all who entered our home. It was my desire that all who entered would feel the presence of the Most High and know that as for me and my house, we served the Lord! (Joshua 24:15)
I felt as though my biggest priority in life was to impress God's Word on my son Andrew. Deuteronomy 6:7 says, "Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Basically, as you go throughout your day, IMPRESS JESUS!! My goal was for Andrew to know that I loved JESUS with all my heart, soul, mind and strength! (Mark 12:30)
This is what I still strive for today. I learned very early in my parenting years that Andrew was watching everything Tom (my husband) and I did. He was following our example. My priorities began to change. I started to closely examine what I listened to, what I watched, and the words that came from my mouth. I am the first to admit that I have failed miserably many times. (my family would testify to this!) I continue to ask Jesus to fill me with more of His Spirit each day.
How are you impressing Jesus and His Word on your children, husband, friends or coworkers? Let's pray together that the Lord will give us opportunities to impress Him on others!
Begin by focusing on your mind."Finally, brothers, (my sweet Journey Girls) whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things."(Philippians 4:8) The apostle Paul knew the power of influence of one's thoughts on one's life. Whatever you allow to influence your mind will ultimately determine your speech and actions. Ask someone to help keep you accountable in this area. Stay positive and 4:8 your thoughts. (Philippians 4:8 that is!)
I am so proud of each one of you! You are doing great!! I am so happy that we are on this journey together. Praying for each one of you daily. I love my Journey Girls! :)

Your posts have been so timely, relevant, and confirming things that the Lord is laying on my heart. Something that I have been thinking a lot about these last couple of days is how I have the privilege and responsibility to be teaching my children the Gospel everyday of their lives. Whether it's in the simple conversations, something they are struggling with, and in the moments of joy, I want it all to point to Jesus.
