Headed Home. . .
Journey Girls,
I am at the Denver airport & I am headed home. It sounds strange to say that going to Illinois is home. However, right now it is my home. My Grandma Hall always said, "Home is wherever you are." So, I am homeward bound and I must say I cannot wait to see my man!! :)
This reminded me of a song, by Carrie Underwood, that I absolutely love. It's called "Temporary Home."
Temporary Home
Little boy, six years old
A little too used to being alone
Another new mom and dad, another school
Another house that'll never be home
When people ask him how he likes this place
He looks up and says with a smile upon his face
This is my temporary home
It's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is my temporary home
A young mom on her own
She needs a little help, got no where to go
She's looking for a job, looking for a way out
'Cause a half-way house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
Someday we'll find our place here in this world
This is our temporary home
It's not where we belong
Windows and rooms that we're passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is our temporary home
Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers, "don't cry for me,
I'll see you all someday"
He looks up and says,
"I can see God's face"
This is my temporary home
It's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This was just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This was my temporary home
This is our temporary home
My beloved, this is our temporary home! We are just passing through- Praise Jesus!
John 14:1-4 says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."
No matter what your situation, or where you are at on this journey, remember this is our temporary home. Let's keep an eternal perspective in all that we do. Let's seek to make an impact for Jesus Christ! Let us fix our eyes on Jesus!
2 Corinthians 4:17-18, "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
Hebrews 12:2 says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning it's shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
I cannot wait to hear how God is working in and through you! By the way, how's the scripture memory coming along? I am praying for each of you! Let's keep our eyes on Jesus and keep our perspective eternal!
Love my Journey Girls,
Elisabeth

7 Response to Headed Home. . .
I arrived safely in St. Louis!! :) Love yall!
So glad you made it back.....welcome "home"!
So glad to see you today setting so serenely in Pastor's office with your bible open.
I gave up all sweets and chocolate when I started this journey.
Some days I have been on that mountain top and saw the Glory of the Lord !
Today I am trying to obey the holy spirit and keep the joy.
I feel the inner fighting with the spiritual. Oh -- How I wait for Heaven"our real home " where there will be no more tears.....
Welcome Home Elizabeth,Deb
ps I long also for the day when I live by the spirit and not do the things I wish not to do.
Interesting that you posted that song and I just started a Beth Moore study that has been saying the same thing. She was talking about how we are on a pilgrimage and how they don't last forever. They exist to get us to the ultimate destination, heaven bound. I found it comforting to know that when we are on journeys that we don't always understand or enjoy at some point they will be over and a new one will begin. However long or short God is there to guide us along the way.
Thank you Trisha!! I am praying for you! Love you! :)
Deb,
